As the final results emerged, it was consistency and experience which eventually made the difference.

For many of the highest ranked Wakeboard Riders in the World, China’s magnificent Linyi City waterfront stadium is now a familiar venue. Exactly five years ago, the City constructed this architectural masterpiece specifically to stage what was then the 32nd Stop of the World Cup Series of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF). This return visit to Linyi will celebrate the 46th Stop of the series – the longest running and most successful of the IWWF.

All is now set for this weekend’s 34th World Cup Stop which will take place in the shadow of Tokyo’s Rainbow Bridge, directly in front the popular Aqua City beach area. With blue skies and 34C temperatures throughout Friday’s Official Practice, the 44 Wakeboard Riders from over 20 countries are now fully acclimatized to the heat.

IWWF President, Kuno Ritschard, informed IWWF World Congress delegates of the July 14th announcement of the IOC to include the sport of Wakeboard in the short list of sports to be considered for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games.
