WTCC’s Race of Argentina enjoys increased domestic live coverage
The FIA World Touring Car Championship’s Race of Argentina received more live coverage this year than in past editions after the motor racing series agreed a deal with Televisión Pública Argentina, the free-to-air broadcaster.
Televisión Pública Argentina televised both races on Sunday, while Fox Sports Latin America, the international sports broadcaster, promoted the race to its flagship Fox Sports 1 channel.
Canal 12, the regional Argentine network, added live coverage of the qualifying stage to its broadcast of the race.
Yann Ehrlacher, of the RC Motorsport team, claimed his first FIA WTCC victory with his win at the Race of Argentina yesterday.
In January, Fox Sports Latin America renewed its deal to televise the 2017 season of the series, which is promoted by Eurosport Events, the events arm of Eurosport.
François Ribeiro, head of Eurosport Events, the WTCC promoter, commented ahead of the race: “Fox Sports and the national Argentinean channels are doing a good job to promote the WTCC across South America. I’m also glad we’ve got more accredited media at Termas this weekend than we ever had over the last four years.”
